Additionally
The costs and minimums for sustainable packaging, to macufacture premium natural sunscreen, and the testing that every single batch must go through are exremely high. Here's a transparent example. Our 1oz sunscreen cost $2.87 to make. We would like to retail it for $6.99, but to do so, the wholesale price would need to be $3.50 because stores mark-up product 50%. We would be making $0.63. At $9.99 we still only make $2.13.
It's organic...does it work?
Yes, and it's even better than your typical chemical-filled sunscreen. Natural ingredients like Zinc reflect the sun's rays, while chemical sunscreens absorb the rays and disperse them into your skin. Who wants carcinogenic free radicals wrreaking havock on the largest organ (your skin) of your body?
Will it turn me white or greasy?
No. Alot of chemistry and testing goes into making a really great mineral susncreen. We know you want it to feel and smell good, actually work, not turn you white, be water-resistant, and probably more. We've acheieved those attributes which is why our formulas are such high quality and not cheap to produce.
Be real...how long does it work?
We suggest applying every 2 hours, depending on your activity. Our SPF 36 stick lasts about 2 hours in the water, while our SPF 50 can last up to 5 hours depending on what you're doing. Check out each product's description for what you should expect!
What makes sunscreen "reef safe"?
Any sunscreen that uses zinc and/or titanium dioxide only, with no other active ingredients. Read your labels. If you're unsure, avoid any sunscreens containing oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate and octinoxate.
If you're unsure, avoid any sunscreens containing oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate and octinoxate and a bunch of crap you can’t pronounce - or with a company behind it that directly misleads its consumers.
Is your packaging sustainable?
Yes, our packaging is either completely plastic-free or made from sugarcane.
Is it waterproof
The FDA outlawed the use of the term “water-proof” years ago. That was all false marketing claims. Nothing is water-proof if you think about it. Water eventually dissolves almost everything. There are now 40 and 80 minute water-resistance claims that can be made. These are made by having test subjects put sunscreen on their backs and sit in fresh water tanks with a timer. This is in now way applicable to swimming in a pool, sweating, or being in the ocean. So real world testing is what we do. To answer the question, YES, our products are water-resistant. Remember, water-resistance depends on the activity, your skin type, the environment you're in, and where you are in the world. Read our product descriptions to choose the right product for your activity.
What's the difference between SPF 30 and 50
An SPF 30 will block 95.6% of rays and an SPF 50 98% of rays if mineral. Remember, chemical sunsceens absorb UV rays into your skin. The idea is that if it takes you 5 minutes to get pink with no sunscreen and you put an SPF 30 on, it should take you 150 minutes to get pink. This is in no way accurate. It doesn’t take into account skin type, time of day, UV index, environment, water play, etc. Know your body and use clothing in addition to a natural mineral sunscreen.

Our earth will thank you
